Joining Rotary

  1. Rotarians invite others they believe will be quality Rotarians. Non-members should seek our Rotarians and ask to attend a meeting or contact us to be invited.
  2. Attend a meeting and determine if you like it and are willing to commit to “Service Above Self.”
  3. Complete the Membership Application form and provide to the Rotarian that invited you to a meeting.
  4. Rotarian submits completed form to Membership Chairperson.
  5. Membership Chairperson presents candidate to Board of Directors for approval.

a. Candidate is approved for membership – process continues.
b. Candidate is not approved for membership – PROCESS STOPS.

 

  1. Membership Chairperson presents name of candidate to general membership.

a. If approved, process continues.
b. If not approved, PROCESS STOPS.

 

  1. Membership Chairperson E-mails the new member welcoming them to the Club and copies with individuals below with the following information:

a. President – Send welcome letter to candidate.

b. Badge Chairperson – Prepare candidate’s red badge for presentation at induction.

 

  1. Within 2 weeks of step #7, Orientation is scheduled with new members to familiarize with Rotary and Club, which includes completing a Personal Facts Sheet and review of committee list. Upon completion, Orientation Chairperson sends E-mail to new member confirming items from blue badge checklist and copies the following individuals:

a. President – To schedule induction and make aware of Classification Talk schedule.

b. Treasurer – Add candidate to membership roster, RI records and website.

c. Proposing Rotarian – To advise of candidate’s approval for membership and that they will serve as
         Mentor to new Rotarian.

d. Badge Chairperson – Prepare candidate’s red badge for presentation at induction.

e. Classification Chairperson – To advise of candidate’s approval for membership.

f.  Greeter Chairperson – To know when new member is scheduled for greeting table.

g. Men’s Closet Chairperson – To know when new member is scheduled for Men’s Closet.

h. Committee Chairperson – To know which committee new member has volunteered.


  1. President arranges for formal induction into the Club.

a. Arranges date.
b. Arranges proposer to "pin" the new member and presents plaque.
c. Invites new member to give brief address (1 minute) to club on background.

 

  1. New member is furnished a red badge.
  2. New member works toward achieving blue badge by completing five tasks:

a. Attend a board of directors meeting.
b. Become a member of and attend a committee meeting.
c. Serve as a greeter for 1 month.
d. Give a classification talk.
e. Work at the Men’s Closet on one Saturday morning.

 

  1. Upon completion of five tasks, new member is presented with a blue badge.
