Rotary Club of Green Bay Names Charity Partner Recipient for 2017 FEA Dinner: Mental Wellness Connections

The Rotary Club of Green Bay is pleased to announce that it has chosen the charity partner recipient for the 2017 Free Enterprise Award Funds. The 2017 finalist is Mental Wellness Connections.

Mental Wellness Connections is a growing collaboration of local organizations with a mission to transform the mental health of the community through collaboration, education, and enhanced systems of care. They envision a community that values and embraces the need for mentally healthy children, adults, and families. Rotary-raised funds will specifically support the needs of students with barriers to traditional mental health care through Connections’ facilitation of school districts and mental health care providers. These stakeholders together are developing guidelines for school-based mental health services in Brown County. Executive director, Martha Ahrendt, highlighted the importance of being chosen as a charity partner: “We are excited to partner with the Rotary Foundation and the opportunity it provides to support students and their mental health needs. Financial support of our effort is greatly appreciated, and we equally value the awareness that this partnership will create in our community.”

The annual Free Enterprise Award banquet honors a business and community leader. Started in 1983, this has become a coveted award, a list of "who's who" of community leaders. The event also serves as the primary fundraiser for the Rotary Foundation of Green Bay and its selected partner organization. In the past three years, organizations selected as Rotary FEA charity partners have received generous proceeds to expand their services within Brown County, thanks to the generosity of local donors, sponsors and Rotarians who have attended the dinner held in May of each year.
